As with the last one, this tape opens with the end of an episode of Vampyr – A Soap Opera.
There’s a trailer for the next episode, along with a trailer for Notes and Queries.
Then, The Doug Anthony All Stars. I only really know them from an appearance on Saturday Live. Their material is a little, shall we say, blokey. Jokes at the expense of Mama Cass, Karen Carpenter and Danni Minogue are a little less than right-on.
I did a search, since I knew they were still performing, and they turn up occasionally on my twitter feed, and I found an article about the time one of the trio sent a series of obscene faxes to a female TV critic who had dared to mention him in less than glowing terms. It’s not pleasant. But it feels like it fits with some of their material here.

Recording switches to BBC1 later the same evening, with the end of Newsroom South East and weather from Michael Fish.
There’s a trailer for Love Hurts, and for As Time Goes By.
Then, Clive James on 1992.
His co-host for the awards for 1992 is Elle Macpherson.
Another special guest is Jason Donovan.
I’ve just noticed that on the face of Big Ben, it has the 4 as IV when the tradition on clock faces is for 4 to be IIII. Interesting.
Even more nerdy, the copyright date for this show, which started in 1992 and finished in 1993, was 1993.
BBC Genome: BBC One – 31st December 1992 – 22:20
After this, recording continues, with the Archbishop of Canterbury’s New Year message. After a few minutes, recording switches to the end of Rab C Nesbitt.
There’s a trailer for programmes in a London Weekend season.
Then, the Sandra Bernhard stand-up concert film Without You I’m Nothing. I’ve always thought this production company has the worst name of any film company imaginable.
While we’re talking about credits, here’s a producer credit I wasn’t expecting on this particular film – Executive Producer Nicolas Roeg.
The film is a strange mixture of song and monologue. I didn’t find it particularly funny myself, but that’s the problem with comedy. It either works for you or it doesn’t
BBC Genome: BBC Two – 1st January 1993 – 00:20
After this there’s a trailer for Late with Jools Holland featuring kd lang. Then a look at programmes for New Year’s Day on BBC2.
Then, there’s weather from Bill Giles, although the announcer says it’s Michael Fish. She does apologise after the weather, though.
Then she wishes us a Happy New Year on behalf of Simon the Engineer, Dave the Vision Mixer, Louise “our sensitive director” and those who couldn’t get into the picture, Marjorie, Caroline and Trish. “The spotty orange one” is Jane Westrop.
The tape ends here.
