What was I saying a few days ago about Christmas tapes having loads of stuff on them? This one’s packed.

First there’s Lenny Henry In Dreams and an early appearance from Geoffrey McGivern as a paparazzo.

Barry Norman makes an appearance as himself.

Bill Paterson plays Lenny’s psychiatrist, analyzing his dreams.

Dawn French plays a blind driving instructor.

Danny John Jules appears as one of his friends at a wedding.

Lenny does Michael Jackson

And Prince

Even The Queen

Another appearance from Geoffrey McGivern

Writer Peter Tilbury appears as a dentist.

BBC Genome: BBC One – 23rd December 1992 – 21:30

After this, recording switches to Harry Enfield’s Festive Television Programme. The Old Gits have found seasonal work.

There’s a parody of the Linda LaPlante show Civvies.

Featuring Martin Clunes

Oh joy, it’s Mike Smash

and Dave Nice

The Slobs feature on one of those domestic style documentaries.

So is Mr Only Me (with Selina Cadell)

And Tim Nicebutdim

There’s a magnificent song from Smashie and Nicey, Christmas is Charity.

BBC Genome: BBC Two – 24th December 1992 – 21:20

There’s an editmungous BBC2 comedy trailer.

Then, The Comic Strip Presents – Wild Turkey. Ruby Wax and Paul Bartel play a couple who have bought a strangely large turkey for Christmas.

But the turkey isn’t dead, and he’s played by Phil Cornwell.

Peter Richardson and Gary Beadle pop up as policemen colleagues of Bartel.

It features a song by Kate Bush on the soundtrack. Kate Bush was a friend of the show, providing the music for GLC and actually performing in the episode Les Dogs.

Mike McShane plays Bernard Matthews.

It even steals the ending of The Boy Who Could Fly

BBC Genome: BBC Two – 24th December 1992 – 22:00

After this, recording switches to BBC1 and the end of some news, then a weather warning from Suzanne Charlton.

There’s a look ahead to Boxing Day

Plus trails for Dangerous Liasons and Shirley Valentine.

Then, Victoria Wood’s All Day Breakfast.

All the usual performers, plus a very brief appearance from Alan Rickman.

There’s a new daytime soap opera, set in a shopping mall, which, by the end, has become the biggest crossover event ever with the appearance of Mrs Overall.

She’s there to open a new shop with a familiar name.

BBC Genome: BBC One – 25th December 1992 – 21:00

After this, another recording switch, and One Jasper Carrott. The titles are slightly embarrassing, having members of the public sing the theme tune (well, football chant) but at least they’re all singing it in tune, very rare for this kind of voxpop singing.

Anyway, the show is Jasper Carrott doing stand-up material from the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

BBC Genome: BBC One – 28th December 1992 – 21:05

There’s a trailer for new comedy.

Then, the tape ends during an episode of One Foot in the Grave.
